U30 System Definition
The system size U30 defines the engineered structural interface between the tooth point and the adapter within the ESCO® Ultralok® system. The fitment is determined exclusively by this system size.
-
Important: Both the tooth and the adapter must be clearly marked with the "U30" stamp.
-
Typical application range: Crawler and wheeled excavators in the 15–20 tonne class with cutting edge thicknesses of 30 mm, 35 mm, or 40 mm. (Note: The machine class serves only as a reference – not as an identification feature).
Mechanical System Logic
The Ultralok® system operates as a two-piece assembly:
-
Adapter: Ensures force transmission into the cutting edge.
-
Tooth point: Serves as the replaceable wear component. The locking mechanism is an integral part of the tooth point. Separate locking pins or bolts are not required by design. Choosing an incorrect U-size inevitably leads to unacceptable play and accelerated wear.
Differentiation from Adjacent System Sizes
The U30 size is positioned exactly between two other common classes:
-
U25: For smaller compact and 10–14t machines.
-
U35: For larger 20–25t machines. The differentiation is not based on excavator weight, but on the actual system stamp on the component.

Overview of U30 Excavator Tooth Geometries
In this category, you will find U30 teeth for a wide variety of requirements:
U30S (Standard): Universal geometry for classic earthmoving.
U30C (Chisel): Narrower profile for increased penetration in heavy soils.
U30P (Pick): Maximum penetration depth in hard or rocky material.
U30F (Flare): Wider cutting contour for trench bottoms and fine grading.
U30AP (Abrasion): Increased wear volume for highly abrasive operating conditions.
U30T (Twin): Used in corner and ripping positions.
U30 Adapter Variants
The adapter is the load-bearing element on the bucket. Available designs:
-
Single strap weld-on adapters
-
1-1/2 strap variants (extended lower leg)
-
Corner adapters & bolt-on adapters Selection is always based on the combination of system size (U30), cutting edge thickness (e.g., 35 mm), and adapter type.
Technical Identification Before Ordering
To avoid incorrect orders, please verify:
-
Is "U30" clearly stamped on the old part (tooth or adapter)?
-
What is the cutting edge thickness of your bucket?
-
Which adapter type is currently installed?
-
Which tooth geometry matches your application profile?
