Bucket teeth & tooth adapters suitable for CAT® J225

LIS® replacement parts suitable for the CAT® J225 tooth system include bucket teeth, tooth tips, tooth adapters, tooth holders and locking pins. This category groups J225-compatible wear parts for bucket applications with side locking.

  • J225 components: tooth tip 6Y3222, weld-on adapter 6Y3224 and locking pin 6Y3228
  • Tooth profile: long tooth tip for general digging and loading applications
  • Identification: check reference number, adapter interface and existing J225 locking configuration

CAT® J225: an individual size within the CAT® J-System

CAT® J225 is an individual system size within the side-locking CAT® J-System. The tooth tip is pushed onto a matching J225 adapter interface and secured by a side locking configuration. Reference number, adapter design, locking bore and the condition of the existing interface are decisive for correct selection.

This category includes J225 bucket teeth, J225 tooth adapters and the locking pin listed in the LIS® range. The higher-level system overview is available in the CAT® J-System category; further tooth systems can be found under Teeth and Tooth Systems.

Correctly identifying the J225 tooth tip 6Y3222

The central tooth reference in this category is 6Y3222. The long J225 tooth tip is intended for general digging and loading applications when the existing adapter interface matches the J225 system size. The general wording as bucket tooth, tooth tip, excavator tooth or loader tooth is not sufficient for technical identification; the relevant combination is reference number, J225 interface and locking configuration.

Before replacement, the existing tooth interface should be checked for play, deformation and visible wear edges. A new tooth tip can only seat correctly if the adapter interface geometrically matches the J225 tooth tip and is not worn out.

J225 tooth adapter 6Y3224 and existing interface

The J225 tooth adapter forms the interface between the bucket lip or base edge and the tooth tip. In this category, the weld-on adapter with reference 6Y3224 is listed for the CAT® J225 tooth system.

When selecting an adapter, the reference number, design, welding situation and condition of the existing bucket lip must be checked. Relevant points include lip thickness, base edge, bevel angle and the position of the interface. If adapter and tooth tip do not match correctly, play can occur in the tooth connection.

Locking for CAT® J225: locking pin 6Y3228

For side locking of the J225 tooth tip, the locking pin 6Y3228 is listed in the current LIS® range. The locking pin is a technical connection part between tooth tip and adapter interface and must match the existing locking bore.

The J225 locking pin 6Y3228 is designed with an approximate diameter of 14 mm and an approximate length of 67 mm. These dimensions can help distinguish it from adjacent system sizes, but they do not replace checking the existing interface and reference number.

Distinction from J200 and J250

CAT® J225 sits between smaller J200 components and larger J250 sizes. The systems cannot be reliably distinguished by tooth shape alone. Reference number, adapter interface, locking bore and the corresponding locking configuration are decisive.

If the existing interface is smaller or the reference does not match the J225 size, CAT® J200 may be relevant. If the adapter interface is larger or the locking geometry differs, CAT® J250 should be checked.

Check before ordering

  • Is the reference number 6Y3222, 6Y3224 or 6Y3228 visible on the existing component or in the documentation?
  • Is the existing interface clearly designed for CAT® J225?
  • Does the long tooth tip match the application and the existing adapter interface?
  • Is the adapter worn, loose or damaged at the weld-on area?
  • Does the locking pin 6Y3228 match the existing locking bore?
  • For adapters: do lip thickness, base edge and bevel angle match the adapter design?

LIS® cutting tools are covered by the lifetime breakage warranty in accordance with the LIS® warranty terms. Normal material wear is excluded; the applicable warranty terms are decisive.
