Excavator Teeth and Retainer Suitable for CAT® K-Series K110

Four LIS® excavator tooth profiles and the Hammerless retainer 286-2110 are assigned to the CAT® K-Series K110 tooth system. Spike, Double Spike, General Duty and Heavy Penetration are excavator teeth in the K110 range. For correct selection, the reference number, adapter interface, tooth profile and retainer seat must be checked together.

  • Profiles: Spike, Double Spike, General Duty and Heavy Penetration
  • Product type: Excavator teeth
  • Retainer: Hammerless retainer 286-2110

Identifying the CAT® K110 System and Hammerless Retainer

The CAT® K-Series K110 tooth system uses a twist-on design with a vertically inserted Hammerless retainer. Opposing angled guide surfaces on the adapter interface create the twisting motion as the tooth is fitted. Retainer 286-2110 locks the tooth in place on the adapter interface.

Hammerless describes the retention principle. K110 does not use the Drive-through retainer 220-9090 assigned to the K80, K90 and K100 sizes.

The existing adapter interface must match the K110 system size. Machines may be equipped with different buckets and tooth systems. The manufacturer and machine model alone are therefore not sufficient for reliable component identification.

The decisive factors are the reference number on the existing tooth, the interface geometry, tooth profile and retainer seat. Adapters are not currently listed as separate products in this category.

K110 Excavator Tooth Profiles and Reference Numbers

Four excavator tooth profiles are confirmed for the current LIS® K110 range. The correct technical assignment is determined by the profile designation, reference number and existing adapter interface.

Profile LIS® profile designation Reference numbers
Spike Long sharp tooth tip 286-2115
220-9117
470-7972
Double Spike V-shaped tooth tip or double-point profile 286-2116
220-9118
470-7973
General Duty Long tooth tip 286-2117
220-9119
467-9824
Heavy Penetration Sharp HD tooth tip 286-2118
232-2112
467-9825

All four K110 versions are assigned as excavator teeth. A similar external tooth shape is not sufficient to treat different profiles or system sizes as technically equivalent. The confirmed reference number and existing adapter interface remain decisive.

Distinguishing K100 from K110

The profile designations Spike, Double Spike, General Duty and Heavy Penetration are used for both K100 and K110. Their technical assignment differs in terms of tooth reference, adapter interface, product type and retention principle.

Heavy Penetration is a loader tooth in the K100 range and an excavator tooth in the K110 range. K100 uses the Drive-through retainer 220-9090, while K110 uses the Hammerless retainer 286-2110. The profile designation alone therefore confirms neither the product type nor the system size.

Checking the Hammerless Retainer 286-2110

The Hammerless retainer 286-2110, also 2862110, is assigned to all four K110 excavator tooth versions. Retainer reference 286-2110 must not be confused with tooth reference 286-2116 for the Double Spike excavator tooth.

When replacing a tooth, inspect the retainer, retainer seat and contact surfaces of the existing adapter interface for wear, deformation and damage. Where the interface is damaged or cannot be clearly identified, the technical assignment should be clarified before fitting the replacement component.

Check Before Ordering

  • Reference number on the existing excavator tooth
  • System size and geometry of the adapter interface
  • Spike, Double Spike, General Duty or Heavy Penetration profile
  • Hammerless retainer 286-2110
  • Condition of the retainer seat and contact surfaces
  • Dimensions of the existing tooth where no reference number is visible

A clearly confirmed reference number on the existing tooth is the primary basis for selection. Retainer reference 286-2110 supports identification of the K110 system but does not replace checking the tooth and the existing adapter interface.

Where no tooth reference is available, compare the tooth shape, dimensions, adapter interface and retainer with the existing K110 system. Machine and bucket details can support this check but do not replace component identification.

Lifetime Breakage Warranty for LIS® K110 Excavator Teeth

The lifetime breakage warranty applies to the LIS® excavator teeth listed in this category in accordance with the LIS® warranty terms. Normal wear caused by the respective operating conditions is excluded.

Other CAT® K-Series Sizes

The general size and retention logic is summarised under CAT® K-Series tooth system. The adjacent active size is CAT® K100. Other tooth systems and wear parts are listed under Tooth and Teeth Systems.
