LIS® Replacement Parts for the CAT® J600 Tooth System

The heavy-duty tooth system for mining and large-scale quarrying in the 70- to 90-ton class.
The J600 system is designed for applications with extreme shock and continuous loads, where the largest system cross-sections and highest holding forces are required.

LIS® carries precisely fitting J600 components (side-pin) for uncompromising continuous use in hard rock excavation.

  • Typical Machine Class: Frequently used on large excavators and massive wheel loaders in the 70–90 t class (e.g., CAT 374, 385, 390, 992)
  • Locking Mechanism: Horizontal locking (side-pin) with a massive Ø 30 mm pin
  • Warranty: Lifetime breakage warranty* on LIS® teeth and adapters

System Differentiation: The J600 Size

The J600 size is a dedicated system for large-scale quarrying and mining. The components are structurally designed to absorb the enormous breakout forces of 80-ton machines in rock. Tooth tips, adapters, and locking parts are only compatible within the J600 size and cannot be combined with components from smaller J-systems.

Technical Identification: Is it really J600?

In the mining sector, unambiguous system identification is essential to avoid severe machine failures. Use these reference values on the old part:

  • 1. Typical J600 Part Numbers (Cast Numbers):
Common reference numbers for J600 tooth points end in "...602" (e.g., the standard tooth 6I-6602 or the rock tooth 6I-6602RC).
  • 2. Adapter Nose Dimension (Inch Rule):
As a rough technical guide, the thickness of the adapter nose for the J600 size is approx. 6.0 inches (approx. 152 mm).
  • 3. Dimensions of J600 Locking Elements:
The J600 locking pin (reference number 6I-6608) has a massive diameter of Ø approx. 30.0 mm and a length of approx. 195.0 mm. The corresponding retainer (6I-6609) measures approx. 55.0 mm in outer diameter.

Workshop Hint: Adapter selection via lip thickness

In the J600 range, the lip thickness (cutting edge thickness) of the bucket is the decisive factor for the correct adapter geometry. An incorrect assignment inevitably leads to an unstable fit, enormous stress on the weld seams, and premature wear. Strict workshop rule: Never determine the adapter design for J600 based solely on visual similarity; always measure the existing lip thickness (typically 70 mm, 75 mm, or 80 mm) on the bucket to select the appropriate heavy-duty adapter.

Tooth Shapes and Adapters for Mining and Quarrying

The J600 tooth system offers high wear reserves for heavy rock excavation. LIS® primarily carries the following profiles:

To safely transfer the extreme breakout forces into the excavator bucket, LIS® carries massive two-strap weld-on adapters (Heavy-Duty) in the J600 segment, precisely tailored to the enormous lip thicknesses of large equipment.

System Comparison: Alternatives to the J-System

Only the most massive tooth systems in the industry compete in the weight class above 70 tons. If your machine is not equipped with the J600 side-pin locking mechanism, you will find these alternatives at LIS®:

What you should check before ordering

To avoid incorrect orders and fatal machine damage, please verify the following points:

  • Is the stamp "J600" or a known part number (e.g., 6I-6602) legible on the old part?
  • Have you precisely measured the cutting edge thickness of your bucket (e.g., 70, 75, or 80 mm) for the adapter?
  • Does the locking pin have a diameter of Ø approx. 30 mm and a length of approx. 195 mm?
  • Have you added completely new locking elements (pin & retainer) to your cart?
