Teeth and Tooth Systems for Excavators, Wheel Loaders, and Demolition Equipment

The direct power transmission between machine and material. Excavator teeth and tooth systems are among the most heavily stressed wear parts in earthmoving, civil engineering, and demolition. They form the core of so-called Ground Engaging Tools (GET) and determine penetration behavior, service life, and economic efficiency in daily operation.

LIS® offers a complete range for all weight classes: from classic two-piece tooth systems with adapter mounts for heavy equipment to direct-mount wear teeth for compact buckets and attachments.

Two-Piece Tooth Systems: Adapter, Tooth Point, and Locking Device

For most excavators, wheel loaders, and heavy attachments (from approx. 6.0 t), two-piece tooth systems are the economic industry standard. The system consists of three structural components:

  • Adapter: Permanently attached to the bucket's lip and provides the precise mounting geometry.
  • Tooth Point: The actual wear part that is replaced once the wear limit is reached.
  • Locking Device (Pin/Retainer): Connects the adapter and tooth securely, depending on the system, e.g., via horizontal pins, vertical pins, or integrated hammerless mechanisms.

Technical compatibility for spare parts is always defined by the system geometry and system size – not solely by the machine manufacturer.

Original ESCO® Tooth Systems (Authorized Partner)

In the premium original systems sector, LIS® is an official and authorized ESCO® partner. We guarantee 100% original quality directly from the manufacturer and carry the market-leading system families:

  • ESCO® Ultralok: Hammerless system with integrated locking for fast tooth changes and high occupational safety.
  • ESCO® Super V: Proven system standard with robust vertical pinning for heavy-duty applications.
  • ESCO® Volvo DRP: Independent ESCO® system range for corresponding DRP adapter geometries.

Additionally, the ESCO System category bundles further ESCO-related wear parts and system-related product areas.

LIS® Replacement Parts for Established Market Standards

Alongside original systems, LIS® provides high-quality, fully compatible replacement parts for almost all adapter geometries prevalent in the market. We offer economic LIS® wear parts suitable for:

Furthermore, you will find LIS® wear parts suitable for Atlas, Hyundai, Feurst, and various Hensley systems.

Direct-Mount Wear Teeth (Without Adapter)

These designs are bolted or welded directly to the cutting edge or tool body without a separate adapter mount. They are technically distinct from two-piece tooth systems:

Flat Teeth

LIS® Flat Teeth are broadly designed wear teeth for direct mounting on the bucket lip. They are particularly suitable for grading, trench cleaning, and controlled material distribution.

Fork Teeth for Mini Excavator Buckets

LIS® Fork Teeth are pointed bolt-on teeth with a fork-like base that positively clasps the bucket lip. In the LIS® range, they are the factory-fitted standard cutting tool for Digging Buckets for Mini Excavators (approx. 1.0–6.0 t). They are dedicated bolt-on teeth for small machines and not universal excavator teeth.

Special Teeth for Demolition and Recycling

For highly stressed applications beyond classic earthmoving, specialized wear teeth are used:

  • Pulverizer Teeth: Designed for high point loading and extreme abrasion on concrete crushers and demolition tongs (hardened to 48–53 HRC).
  • Grab Points & Grab Teeth: Ensure the gripping capability of sorting and handling grabs in continuous operation.

Tooth Shapes and Application Profiles

The geometry of a tooth massively influences penetration behavior, material flow, and service life. Typical tooth shapes in the GET sector are:

  • Standard: Balanced ratio of material volume and penetration for universal earthmoving.
  • Penetration / Pick: For hard, compacted soils and light rock applications.
  • Chisel: Broad penetration edge, ideal for cohesive materials.
  • Twin / Twin Tiger: Defined material guidance and edge clearance in heavy-duty operations.
  • Abrasion: Increased wear volume on the back of the tooth for highly abrasive soils (quartz, sand).

LIS® Quality Promise: Lifetime Breakage Warranty

Quality and reliability are paramount in civil engineering and demolition. Therefore, LIS® grants a lifetime breakage warranty on all cutting tools (teeth, adapters, blades). This comprehensive warranty fully covers material and manufacturing defects. Please note: Normal material wear caused by abrasive operating conditions is naturally excluded from this guarantee. This underlines our uncompromising commitment to the metallurgical quality of our wear parts.

Technical Identification: Which tooth system is installed?

Correct identification is the foundation of every accurately fitting spare part order. Especially for B2B customers, identification often begins with the system installed on the old part. Pay attention to the following features:

  1. System Stamping: Stamped size or system markings (e.g., on the tooth or adapter) often provide the first clue.
  2. Type of Locking: Horizontal pin, vertical pin, or integrated hammerless system?
  3. Adapter Mount Geometry: The shape and dimensions of the adapter nose strictly determine the compatibility of the new tooth.

In case of uncertainties regarding identification or the suitable tooth shape for your application profile (earthmoving, demolition, mining), the LIS® technical sales team is ready to assist you.

Original Systems vs. LIS® Replacement Parts (Legal Classification)

Within the LIS® range, a strict technical and legal distinction is made between original systems and compatible LIS® replacement parts. Original ESCO® areas (e.g., Ultralok® or Super V®) are expressly marked as original parts.

Legal Notice: Brand names and system designations such as CAT®, Bofors®, Volvo®, or Lehnhoff® are used in the replacement parts sector exclusively for the technical identification of compatibility or system geometry. Unless expressly marked as original, these are high-quality LIS® replacement parts and not original parts from the respective machine manufacturer.
