Two-Piece Tooth Systems: Adapter, Tooth Point, and Locking Device
For most excavators, wheel loaders, and heavy attachments (from approx. 6.0 t), two-piece tooth systems are the economic industry standard. The system consists of three structural components:
- Adapter: Permanently attached to the bucket's lip and provides the precise mounting geometry.
- Tooth Point: The actual wear part that is replaced once the wear limit is reached.
- Locking Device (Pin/Retainer): Connects the adapter and tooth securely, depending on the system, e.g., via horizontal pins, vertical pins, or integrated hammerless mechanisms.
Technical compatibility for spare parts is always defined by the system geometry and system size – not solely by the machine manufacturer.

LIS® Flat Teeth are broadly designed wear teeth for direct mounting on the bucket lip. They are particularly suitable for grading, trench cleaning, and controlled material distribution.
Fork Teeth for Mini Excavator Buckets
LIS® Fork Teeth are pointed bolt-on teeth with a fork-like base that positively clasps the bucket lip. In the LIS® range, they are the factory-fitted standard cutting tool for Digging Buckets for Mini Excavators (approx. 1.0–6.0 t). They are dedicated bolt-on teeth for small machines and not universal excavator teeth.
Special Teeth for Demolition and Recycling
For highly stressed applications beyond classic earthmoving, specialized wear teeth are used:
- Pulverizer Teeth: Designed for high point loading and extreme abrasion on concrete crushers and demolition tongs (hardened to 48–53 HRC).

- System Stamping: Stamped size or system markings (e.g., on the tooth or adapter) often provide the first clue.
- Type of Locking: Horizontal pin, vertical pin, or integrated hammerless system?
- Adapter Mount Geometry: The shape and dimensions of the adapter nose strictly determine the compatibility of the new tooth.
