HB500 Wear Protection Bar & Armor Steel

HB500 wear protection bars and armor steel profiles are used as weld-on wear protection for heavily exposed areas on excavator buckets, loader buckets, grapples and other attachments.

The raised profile design protects local contact areas against abrasion and wear. It is commonly applied to bucket bottoms, loader bucket surfaces, grapple shells and transition zones exposed to soil, gravel, recycled materials or demolition debris.

  • HB500 wear protection profiles in 3,000 mm standard lengths
  • Available sizes: 80×10 mm, 100×15 mm and 120×20 mm
  • Suitable for bucket bottoms, loader buckets, grapple shells and local wear zones
  • Weld-on wear protection for repair and maintenance work on attachments

Wear Protection for High-Wear Areas

Wear protection bars are used wherever components are exposed to continuous abrasive wear. Typical applications include bucket bottoms, bucket side areas, grapple shells, side walls and transition zones on construction equipment attachments. Unlike a cutting edge, these profiles are designed to protect surfaces and contact zones rather than the primary digging edge.

Wear protection bars are often used where replacing the complete component is not economically practical and specific wear zones need targeted protection or repair.

The parent category Cutting Edges, Wear Bars & Profiles includes wear bars, weld-on cutting edges, bolt-on cutting edges, grader blades, wear profiles and additional wear protection components for construction equipment.

Bucket, Loader Bucket and Grapple Protection

These HB500 profiles are welded onto wear-prone areas of attachments. They are commonly used to reinforce local wear zones exposed to soil, gravel, recycled materials, demolition debris and other abrasive materials.

Their purpose is not to replace a cutting edge, but to protect areas where surface wear is concentrated.

Selecting the Correct Wear Protection Profile

Selection should be based on the wear pattern, component geometry, available mounting area and required material thickness. This category currently includes HB500 wear protection profiles supplied in 3,000 mm standard lengths.

Available dimensions include 80×10×3000 mm, 100×15×3000 mm and 120×20×3000 mm.

Difference Between Wear Protection Bars and Cutting Edges

If a primary cutting edge needs to be repaired or replaced, the appropriate categories are Wear Bars & Cutting Edges and Wear Bars & Cutting Edges Cut to Size.

Wear protection bars are designed for local wear zones on bucket bottoms, bucket surfaces and grapple shells. They complement cutting edges but do not replace them.

Additional Wear Protection Products

For bolt-on cutting edges, see 6 Inch Bolt-On Cutting Edges and 6 Inch Reversible Bolt-On Cutting Edges – Cut to Size. For specialised wear applications, see V-Profile Wear Bar.

Before Welding

Before installation, the component geometry, wear pattern, material flow and welding position should be evaluated. Wear protection profiles should be positioned to protect the wear zone without negatively affecting material flow or attachment operation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wear Protection Bars

What are wear protection bars used for?

They are used as local wear protection on buckets, loader buckets, grapples and other attachments exposed to abrasive wear.

Are wear protection bars cutting edges?

No. They protect surfaces and wear zones. Cutting edges are covered by dedicated cutting edge and wear bar categories.

Which dimensions are available?

Current sizes include 80×10 mm, 100×15 mm and 120×20 mm in 3,000 mm lengths.

When should wear protection bars be used?

They are used when specific areas of a component require reinforcement, wear protection or repair due to abrasive operating conditions.
