HB500 Half Arrow Profiles for Buckets and Attachments
HB500 half arrow profiles are weld-on steel profiles for high-wear edges on buckets and compatible attachments. Depending on the component design, they form the working edge or protect base edges, the areas between tooth adapters, side edges and transition zones.

Half arrow profiles on buckets and attachments
Half arrow profiles are welded to edges and transition zones that require additional wear protection. Depending on the installation position, they form the working edge, protect an existing base edge or take the direct wear on exposed areas of a toothed bucket.
The LIS® range in this category consists of weld-on HB500 profile bars. Machine-specific cast segments and bolt-on half arrow edges are separate components and are not included in this category.
Use on working edges and base edges
At the front of the bucket, the profile can form the working edge or be welded to an existing base edge as additional edge protection. On toothed buckets, sections cut to the required length protect the exposed areas between tooth adapters.
Side edges and locally worn transition areas are other possible installation positions. Profile geometry, mating surface and installation orientation must match the existing structure. The nominal size alone is not sufficient for technical selection.
Check profile size and cross-section
The current LIS® range includes HB500 half arrow profiles in the following sizes:
- 101×11 mm
- 151×16 mm
- 203×19 mm
- 254×40 mm
All four profile sizes are currently available in 3 m and 6 m lengths. Designations such as 101×11 mm or 203×19 mm do not describe every dimension of the profile cross-section. For a like-for-like replacement, the complete cross-sectional geometry, mating surface, adjacent wear parts and installation orientation must be checked. A larger cross-section is not automatically suitable for every bucket or attachment design.
Difference from cutting edge steel and surface wear protection
Cutting edge steel and weld-on edges are used to build or replace welded cutting edges with a different profile cross-section. Depending on the installation, half arrow profiles can also protect areas between tooth adapters, side edges or local transition zones. They must not be replaced with cutting edge steel or a standard weld-on edge without technical verification.
Wear strips and flat steel are used mainly on flat contact surfaces, undersides and transition areas. Studded wear plate / armored bars form a separate product group for local wear zones. Selection is based on the wear location, connection geometry and required protective function.
Base structure and welding procedure
Before welding, check the material grade and condition of the base structure, the complete profile geometry, the mating surface and the installation orientation. Cracks, severe washout and an insufficient remaining cross-section must be assessed before installation and included in the repair plan.
HB500 is not a welding procedure. Preheating, filler material, heat input, weld build-up and cooling must be derived from the material data and the applicable welding procedure specification. The work must be carried out by appropriately qualified personnel.
After cooling, the weld area and base structure must at least be visually inspected for cracks, detachment and unacceptable distortion. Additional inspections depend on the component design, welding procedure and operating requirements. During service, inspect the profile, welds and adjacent base structure together.
