Selecting the correct Bofors PIN-Type tooth
The Bofors PIN-Type tooth system consists of a tooth adapter, a fitted excavator tooth and a vertically installed roll pin. LIS® uses the term Torpedo tooth for the flat excavator teeth listed in this category. When replacing components, the complete combination of tooth, adapter and roll pin must match.
The quickest way to identify the correct replacement is by the reference number on the existing tooth. The adapter size and roll pin dimensions should also be checked. The machine designation alone is not sufficient, as different tooth systems may be fitted to machines within the same model range.
Which components belong together?
- Size 2: tooth 4046729, also E105, roll pin 14x80 mm
- Size 3: tooth 4046663, also E110, roll pin 20x100 mm
- Size 4: tooth 3027689, also 38104 and E115, roll pin 20x100 mm
- Size 5: tooth 3027512, also 38101 and E120, roll pin 20x100 mm
Sizes 2 to 5 refer to the Bofors PIN-Type range. They must not be treated as equivalent to the Bofors B-Lock Sizes B2 to B5.
Check the tooth adapter and retaining components
Before installation, inspect the tooth adapter, retaining hole and roll pin for wear, damage or deformation. The tooth must fit the existing adapter, and the specified roll pin must match the position and dimensions of the retaining hole.
If the reference number on the removed tooth can no longer be read, compare the tooth, adapter and retaining component together. A similar tooth shape or matching machine brand does not confirm technical interchangeability.
Distinction from the Bofors B-Lock tooth system
Bofors PIN-Type and Bofors B-Lock use different tooth and retention designs. Adapters, teeth and retaining components must not be combined solely because their sizes appear similar.
