Identifying CAT® J800 correctly

CAT® J800 is a separate size within the side-pin-retained CAT® J-System. The J800 designation alone does not confirm that a tooth tip will fit the existing adapter interface and retention parts.

The machine designation is not a sufficient basis for identification because buckets, loader buckets and adapter interfaces may have been fitted differently or modified. The reference number on the existing component, the adapter-nose geometry and the retention geometry are decisive.

Rock Loader design in the current LIS® J800 range

The current LIS® J800 category includes one tooth tip in a Rock Loader design. The profile designation describes the available tooth shape, but does not constitute a complete compatibility specification.

Material, working task, required penetration behaviour, the wear pattern of the existing tooth tip and the existing adapter interface must be considered together. External shape or the J800 size designation alone is not sufficient for technical identification.

No unconfirmed manufacturer reference number is stated for the available Rock Loader profile in this category text. The reference visible on the existing component and the technical inspection of the existing interface remain decisive.

Checking the adapter interface, retention parts and wear condition together

The tooth tip is fitted onto the existing adapter nose and held by the retention parts assigned to that interface. The adapter nose, seating surfaces, pin bore, locking pin and retainer must be checked as a complete connection.

Different tooth, adapter and retention designs may exist within the J800 system size. Reference numbers assigned to other J800 components must therefore not be transferred to the available Rock Loader tooth without confirmed compatibility.

Movement at the tooth tip may result from wear on the tooth, adapter nose or seating surfaces. A damaged or deformed pin bore can also impair the seating of the tooth tip.

If visible damage, pronounced wear or incomplete seating is present, the existing interface must be inspected before a new tooth tip is installed.

Distinguishing J800 from J700

J700 and J800 are separate sizes within the CAT® J-System. Tooth tips, adapters and retention parts must not be combined across these sizes without confirmed reference and interface compatibility.

Identification is based on the reference number, adapter interface and retention geometry. Tooth shape, machine model or an approximate size comparison are not sufficient. The adjacent system size can be checked under CAT® J700.

Check before ordering

• Read the reference number on the existing tooth tip
• Confirm that the adapter interface is assigned to the J800 system size
• Check whether a Rock Loader design is required
• Inspect the adapter nose and seating surfaces for wear or damage
• Check the pin bore, locking pin and retainer together
• Consider any existing movement or incomplete seating of the tooth tip
• Provide photographs, reference numbers and available dimensions for technical assessment if identification remains unclear
