Identifying the CAT® K100 System and Retainer

The CAT® K-Series K100 tooth system operates according to the twist-on principle. Opposing angled guide surfaces on the adapter interface create the twisting motion as the tooth is fitted. K100 uses the vertically inserted Drive-through retainer 220-9090. The Hammerless retention principle is assigned to the K110 size.

The existing adapter interface must match the K100 system size. Machines may be equipped with different excavator buckets, loader buckets and tooth systems. The manufacturer and machine model alone are therefore not sufficient for reliable component identification.

The decisive factors are the reference number on the existing tooth, the interface geometry, product type, tooth profile and retainer seat. Adapters are not currently listed as separate products in this category.

K100 Tooth Profiles and Reference Numbers

The current LIS® K100 range consists of three excavator tooth profiles and one loader tooth profile. The correct technical assignment is determined by product type, profile designation and reference number.

The profile designation alone does not determine the product type across different sizes or tooth systems. A similar tooth shape or the same K100 system size does not make excavator and loader versions interchangeable. The confirmed reference number and existing adapter interface remain decisive.

Distinguishing K90 from K100

Within the current LIS® range, K90 and K100 use the same profile designations and retainer 220-9090. The retainer is therefore not a unique indicator of system size. The tooth references and geometry of the respective adapter interfaces differ.

A K90 version must not be treated as suitable for K100 solely because it has the same profile designation or retainer. Where no tooth reference is visible, the tooth shape and dimensions must be compared with the existing K100 adapter interface.

Checking the Retainer and Adapter Interface

The Drive-through retainer 220-9090, also 2209090, is assigned to the four K100 tooth versions listed in this category. The same retainer is also used for K80 and K90.

When replacing a tooth, inspect the retainer, retainer seat and contact surfaces of the existing adapter interface for wear, deformation and damage. Where the interface is damaged or cannot be clearly identified, the technical assignment should be clarified before fitting a replacement component.

Check Before Ordering

• Reference number on the existing tooth
• System size and geometry of the adapter interface
• Product type such as excavator tooth or loader tooth
• Spike, Double Spike, General Duty or Heavy Penetration profile
• Drive-through retainer 220-9090
• Condition of the retainer seat and contact surfaces
• Dimensions of the existing tooth where no reference number is visible

A clearly confirmed reference number on the existing tooth is the primary basis for selection. Where no tooth reference is available, compare the product type, tooth shape, dimensions, adapter interface and retainer with the existing K100 system.

Machine, excavator bucket and loader bucket details can support this check but do not replace component identification.

Lifetime Breakage Warranty for LIS® K100 Teeth

The lifetime breakage warranty applies to the LIS® teeth listed in this category in accordance with the LIS® warranty terms. Normal wear caused by the respective operating conditions is excluded. The applicable LIS® warranty terms apply separately to retainer 220-9090.
