U25 System Definition
The U25 size defines the engineered interface between tooth and adapter within the ESCO® Ultralok® system.
Fitment: Selection is determined exclusively by the stamped “U25” marking on the worn part.
Reference class: U25 is typically used on 10–14 tonne excavators.
Note: Machine weight and bucket width are reference values only, not a primary identifier.
Locking: The lock is integrated into the tooth. No separate locking pins are required.
Position within the Ultralok® System Hierarchy
For correct parts identification, U25 is positioned between the adjacent sizes:
-
U20: typical range 6–10 tonnes
-
U25: typical range 10–14 tonnes
-
U30: typical range 15–20 tonnes
Choosing the wrong system size can lead to tolerance issues, misalignment, and premature wear.

U25 Tooth Geometries in Use
Depending on ground conditions and application, the following shapes are available:
U25S (Standard): general earthmoving
U25C (Chisel): improved penetration in heavy/binding soils
U25P (Pick): increased penetration for harder material
U25F (Flare): wider profile for trench bottoms and grading
U25AP (Abrasion): increased wear volume for abrasive conditions
U25T (Twin): corner and ripping positions
U25 Adapter Variants & Cutting Edges (25 mm / 30 mm)
The adapter transfers forces into the bucket lip via a form-fit connection.
In addition to system size U25, the cutting edge thickness is the key selection criterion.
Typical cutting edge/lip thickness for U25:
-
25 mm
-
30 mm
Available variants:
-
Single strap weld-on adapters
-
1-1/2 strap variants
-
Corner adapters
-
Bolt-on adapters
Technical Identification Before Ordering
To avoid incorrect orders, please verify:
-
Is “U25” clearly stamped on the worn part (tooth and/or adapter)?
-
What is the cutting edge thickness (25 mm or 30 mm)?
-
Which adapter type is installed (single strap, corner, bolt-on, etc.)?
-
Which tooth geometry matches your application?
If in doubt, LIS® technical support will assist you.
