Technical Identification of CAT® K80
The CAT® K-Series K80 tooth system belongs to the Drive-through version of the K-Series. The tooth is twisted onto the existing adapter interface. The vertically inserted Drive-through retainer 220-9090 secures the tooth to the adapter interface.
The existing adapter interface must match the K80 system size. Machines may be equipped with different buckets and tooth systems. The manufacturer and machine model alone are therefore not sufficient for reliable component identification.
The decisive factors are the reference number on the existing tooth, the interface geometry, the tooth profile and the design of the retainer interface. Separate adapters are not included in this category.
K80 Excavator Tooth Profiles and Reference Numbers
Spike, Double Spike and General Duty are confirmed for CAT® K80. Each profile has its own reference assignment. A similar external tooth shape is not sufficient to treat different profiles as technically equivalent.
| Profile | LIS® profile designation | Reference numbers |
|---|---|---|
| Spike | Long sharp tooth tip | 220-9087 475-5471 |
| Double Spike | V-shaped tooth tip or double-point profile | 220-9088 475-5472 |
| General Duty | Long tooth tip | 220-9089 475-5473 |
Drive-through Retainer 220-9090
Retainer 220-9090, also 2209090, is assigned to all three K80 excavator teeth. The same retainer reference is also used for K90 and K100. The system size therefore cannot be identified from the retainer alone.
When replacing a tooth, inspect the retainer, retainer interface and contact surfaces of the existing adapter interface for wear, deformation and damage. Where the interface is damaged or cannot be clearly identified, the technical assignment should be clarified before fitting a replacement tooth.
Check Before Ordering
- Reference number on the existing excavator tooth
- System size and geometry of the adapter interface
- Spike, Double Spike or General Duty profile
- Drive-through retainer 220-9090
- Condition of the retainer interface and contact surfaces
- Dimensions of the existing tooth where no reference number is visible
A clearly confirmed reference number is the primary basis for selection. Where no reference is available, compare the tooth shape, dimensions, adapter interface and retainer with the existing K80 tooth system. Machine and bucket details can support this check but do not replace component identification.
