U35 System Definition – Heavy Duty Class

The U35 system size defines the engineered interface between tooth and adapter for machines in the 20 to 25 tonne range. In this weight class, leverage forces, breakout forces, and structural loads on welds increase significantly.

• Identification: Exclusively determined by the stamped "U35" marking on the old part (machine weight serves only as a reference).

• Workplace Safety: The locking mechanism is fully integrated into the tooth. There are no traditional hammer pins. Especially in the heavy 25-tonne segment, this eliminates the risk of injury from uncontrolled hammer strikes and drastically reduces unnecessary downtime during tooth changes.

Position within the Ultralok® Hierarchy

For clear part identification and to avoid incorrect orders, U35 is positioned exactly between:

• U30: Typical range 15–20 tonnes

• U35: Typical range 20–25 tonnes (Heavy excavation)

• U40: Typical range 25–35 tonnes An incorrect system size under these high loads will immediately lead to tolerance issues and premature wear of the adapter nose.

In the heavy-duty segment, excavator buckets are heavily reinforced. Alongside the system size, the exact lip thickness is the most critical selection criteria. U35 weld-on adapters are typically manufactured for the following cutting edges:

• 40 mm

• 45 mm

U35 Adapter Design & Force Transmission

U35 weld-on adapters feature longer and more massive straps to distribute the high leverage forces in a controlled manner into the bucket lip. Available variants:

• Single strap weld-on adapters

• 1-1/2 strap heavy-duty variants (reinforced bottom leg)

• Corner adapters

U35 Tooth Geometries

The following tooth shapes are available for various ground conditions:

• U35S (Standard): For general earthmoving.

• U35C (Chisel): Improved penetration in tough, cohesive soils.

• U35P (Pick): Maximum penetration for hard, rocky ground.

• U35F (Flare): Wide profile for trench bottoms and grading.

• U35AP (Abrasion): Increased wear volume for highly abrasive materials.

• U35T (Twin): For corner and ripping positions.
