Hydraulic Filter Head for Construction Equipment
Filter heads are installed in suction, return and line filters and form part of the respective filter assembly.
Filter position, port configuration and design determine fitment. Suction, return and line filter heads are not interchangeable.
The filter head connects the filter to the assembly and defines how the filter is mounted within the system.
A filter head determines whether a hydraulic filter will physically fit the existing assembly.

Filter heads for suction, return and line filters
- Suction filter heads: installed on the suction side upstream of the pump
- Return filter heads: installed in the return line to tank
- Line filter heads: integrated directly into pressure or working lines
- Filter heads without element: base units for existing or separately selected filters
- Filter head assemblies: complete units with defined mounting and configuration
Filter position defines the design. A return filter head does not fit suction or line filter applications.
Filter heads are position-specific and differ in port configuration and mounting interface.
Port configuration, threads and mounting interface
Selection is not based on thread size alone. Port layout, sealing surfaces and the interface for housings or spin-on filters are critical.
Mismatches become obvious during installation: lines do not align, sealing surfaces fail or the filter housing does not seat correctly.
Head series and filter design
The filter design defines which filter fits into the head.
Suction filters, return filters, line filters and spin-on systems follow different assembly concepts. Head series and interface determine which combination works mechanically.
Bypass, indicator port and configuration
Bypass configuration, indicator port and head geometry are part of the existing assembly.
If these differ, the filter will not operate as intended or the assembly will not seal properly.
Typical mismatches in practice
- Port configuration: lines do not fit or are under mechanical stress
- Filter position: wrong head selected for suction, return or line filter
- Design: installation space or orientation does not match
- Interface: housing or spin-on filter does not seat correctly
- Configuration: bypass or indicator port does not match the assembly
An incorrectly selected filter head results in filters, connections or assemblies that do not fit mechanically.
Mismatches lead to leakage, stress or non-functioning filter systems.
Filter heads within hydraulic filter accessories
Hydraulic filter heads are part of the hydraulic filter accessories.
Related components include service indicators and sight glasses.
Filter heads are used in suction filters, return filters and line filters and form the interface to hydraulic filter elements.
