Bolt-On Cutting Edges Suitable for Volvo® Wheel Loaders

Reference number, component type, dimensions and bolt pattern must match when selecting bolt-on cutting edges and segments suitable for Volvo® wheel loaders. The current LIS® range includes bolted cutting edges for suitably designed wheel loader buckets.

  • Component types: bolt-on cutting edges and segments
  • Application: wheel loader buckets
  • Identification: reference number, dimensions, complete bolt pattern and fasteners

Note: The Volvo® brand name is used solely to identify compatibility. Each product clearly states whether it is an LIS® replacement part or an expressly identified genuine product.

Selecting bolt-on cutting edges for Volvo® wheel loaders

The machine model helps narrow down the options. For ordering, however, the component actually fitted to the bucket is decisive. On repaired or modified buckets, the installed cutting edge may differ from the original configuration.

Distinguishing the bolt-on cutting edge from the base edge

The bolt-on cutting edge is the replaceable wear part mounted to the front of the bucket. It takes the direct wear and protects the load-bearing base edge. Depending on the bucket system, the cutting edge consists of one full-length edge or several bolted components.

Treating segments as a separate component type

Segments form part of multi-piece cutting-edge systems. They are not equivalent to a full-length bolt-on cutting edge. Their position on the bucket alone is also not sufficient to classify them as centre cutting edges.

For identification, the confirmed reference number, dimensions and bolt pattern of the segment must match the installed component.

Checking the reference number and installed version

The reference number is the first step in the identification process, but it does not confirm the correct replacement part on its own. It must be checked together with the component type, length, width, thickness and bolt pattern of the installed cutting edge.

Similar reference numbers or the same machine series do not confirm interchangeability. The confirmed specification of the individual product remains decisive.

Checking the complete bolt pattern and fasteners

The complete bolt pattern includes the number and diameter of the holes as well as the hole spacing and end distances. Identical outer dimensions are not sufficient when the bolt pattern or fastening arrangement differs.

The specified plow bolt size must match the existing holes. The required bolt length depends on the total clamped thickness of the joint.

A product image or simplified catalogue sketch is not a sufficient basis for identification. A technical drawing may be used when the reference number, dimensions and complete bolt pattern are clearly stated.

Technical specifications remain product-specific

Material, hardness, heat treatment and other technical values apply only to the individual product. This also applies to whether a bolt-on cutting edge is reversible and can be used on a second cutting edge.

Information from another supplier range or from a similarly designed cutting edge must not be transferred to an LIS® product.

Other cutting edges and fasteners

Universal bolt-on cutting edges with 6-inch hole spacing are available under 6 Inch Bolt-On Cutting Edges. Further manufacturer-specific versions are listed under CAT Cutting EdgesKomatsu Cutting Edges and Liebherr Cutting Edges.

Matching plow bolts and nuts are available under Bolts and Nuts. Further cutting edges and wear profiles are listed in the parent category Edges and Blades.

Lifetime breakage guarantee for LIS® cutting tools

Lifetime breakage guarantee: Products in this category that are expressly identified as LIS® cutting tools are covered by the lifetime breakage guarantee. Coverage is limited to material and manufacturing defects. Normal wear caused by operating conditions is excluded. Bolts, nuts, fasteners, other accessories and genuine products from other manufacturers are not covered. Further information is available in the LIS® warranty conditions.
