System Differentiation: The J250 Size
The J250 size is positioned as a classic intermediate size in the J-System. It is more robust than the J200 system, yet more compact than the J300. It is frequently used where a strong system is needed, but installation space and weight are limiting factors.
Tooth tips, adapters, and locking parts are only compatible within the J250 size.

Technical Identification: Is it really J250?
For a correct spare part order, it must be established beyond doubt that your bucket is equipped with J250 components. Use these reference values for identification on the old part:
- 1. Typical J250 Part Numbers (Cast Numbers):
Common reference numbers for J250 tooth points end in "...252" (e.g., the standard tooth 1U-3252 or 9J-2258). - 2. Adapter Nose Dimension (Inch Rule):
As a rough technical guide, the thickness of the adapter nose for the J250 size is approx. 2.5 inches (approx. 64 mm). - 3. Dimensions of J250 Locking Elements:
The specific J250 locking pin (e.g., reference number 8E-6258) has a diameter of Ø approx. 14.0 mm and a length of approx. 77 to 80.0 mm.
Workshop Hint: Risk of confusion between J225 and J250
In workshop practice, mix-ups frequently occur between the J225 and J250 systems, as both have similar dimensions. Important: They are not directly interchangeable. They differ in adapter geometry and locking elements. Always measure the pin exactly or check the cast number before changing the system.
Tooth Shapes and Adapters for Excavators and Wheel Loaders
The J250 tooth system offers the right penetration power for every soil. The choice of tooth shape depends on the soil type and abrasion:
- Standard / Long (e.g., 1U-3252): The universal choice for mixed earthmoving and classic trenching applications.
- Penetration / Tiger: For hard, compacted soils where penetration power is the priority.
- Rock / Abrasion: Reinforced versions for heavy-wear applications (quartz, gravel).
To optimally equip the cutting tool, LIS® carries two specific adapter designs in the J250 segment:
- Two-Strap Adapters (Weld-on): Predominantly used on excavator buckets as they enclose the cutting edge, offering maximum stability during breakout.
- Flush-Mount Adapters (Single-Strap): Frequently used on wheel loader buckets to ensure a smooth bucket underside for clean grading work.
System Comparison: Alternatives to the J-System

- Have you added completely new locking elements (pin & retainer) to your cart? (Old retainers lead to tooth loss!)
