Bucket teeth & tooth adapters suitable for CAT® J350

For the CAT® J350 tooth system, bucket tooth or tooth tip, tooth adapter or tooth holder and side locking parts must be checked together during replacement part identification. Reference number, tooth profile, adapter design, locking bore and the condition of the existing J350 interface are technically decisive.

CAT® J350: tooth profiles, adapter designs and locking parts

CAT® J350 is an individual size within the side-locking CAT® J-System. The tooth tip is pushed onto a matching J350 adapter interface and secured laterally with locking pin and retaining ring. Reference number, tooth profile, adapter design, locking bore and the condition of the existing interface are decisive for correct selection.

J350 bucket teeth, J350 tooth adapters and locking parts must match the same system size. For size comparison within the system, refer to CAT® J-System. Other tooth systems are grouped under Teeth and Tooth Systems.

Selecting J350 tooth tips by reference and application profile

For CAT® J350, the tooth profile is a key selection criterion. J350 tooth tips differ in length, penetration behaviour, cutting width, wear volume and application profile. The decisive factor is the combination of reference number, profile and existing J350 adapter interface.

  • 1U3351: short J350 tooth tip when a shorter design is required compared with long profiles
  • 1U3352: long J350 tooth tip for general digging and loading applications
  • 9J4359: sharp or penetration profile for compacted or hard-to-penetrate materials
  • 9W2359: sharp tooth in tiger style for narrow penetration geometry
  • 1359357: double spike or twin tiger design for fractured or abrasive materials
  • 1U3352RC: Rock Chisel design for rocky and abrasive operating conditions

The terms bucket tooth, tooth tip, excavator tooth and loader tooth are used differently in the market. For technical identification within J350, reference number, tooth profile, adapter interface and matching locking parts are decisive.

J350 tooth adapters: checking design and interface

J350 tooth adapters form the interface between the bucket lip or base edge and the tooth tip. Adapter selection is based on bucket lip, base edge, position on the tool and existing interface. Depending on the setup, double-strap adapters, Flush Mount adapters, left and right corner adapters and bolt-on centre adapters are used.

Relevant J350 adapter references include 6I6354, 3G8354, 3G5358, 8E5358, 3G5359, 1U1354 and 3G3357. Before installation, lip thickness, base edge, bevel angle, welding situation and wear condition of the existing interface should be checked.

Play between tooth tip and adapter can indicate a worn interface, an incorrect system size or damaged locking parts. For J350, the correct combination of tooth tip, adapter design, locking bore and locking parts is decisive.

Locking for CAT® J350: 8E6358 and 8E6359

In the LIS® J350 allocation, 8E6358 is relevant as the locking pin and 8E6359 as the retaining ring. Both components are used for side locking of the tooth tip and must match the existing J350 interface and locking bore.

When replacing a tooth, locking pin, retaining ring and adapter interface should be checked together. Worn locking parts, damaged bores or play at the tooth tip can affect the connection between tooth and adapter.

Distinction from J300 and J400

CAT® J350 sits between smaller J300 components and larger J400 sizes. The systems cannot be reliably distinguished by tooth shape or bucket size alone. Reference number, adapter interface, locking bore and the corresponding locking parts are decisive.

If the existing interface is smaller or the reference does not match the J350 size, CAT® J300 may be relevant. If the adapter interface is larger, the locking geometry differs or matching J400 references are present, CAT® J400 should be checked.

Check before ordering

  • Which reference number is visible on the existing tooth, adapter or locking part?
  • Is the existing interface clearly designed for CAT® J350?
  • Does the tooth profile match the application: short, long, penetration, sharp, double spike, Rock Chisel, Rock Loader, Heavy Duty, Abrasion or wide?
  • Is the adapter worn, loose or damaged at the weld-on area?
  • Do locking pin 8E6358 and retaining ring 8E6359 match the existing locking bore?
  • For adapters: do lip thickness, base edge and bevel angle match the adapter design?
