Hydraulic Tilt Quick Couplers with HS Mount

Tilt quick couplers with hydraulic rotary drive and hydraulic tool locking.
A tilt quick coupler with an HS mount enables tool changes directly from the cabin, combined with the tilt function of a hydraulic rotary drive. Both the rotary drive and the locking of the tool are controlled hydraulically.

In the LIS® range, you will find hydraulic quick couplers and hydraulically locked tilt couplers for excavators from 0.8 to 30 tons.

  • Locking Mechanism: Hydraulic (tool change directly from the cabin)
  • Rotary Drive: Hydraulic (180° for excavators up to 23 t / 134° for excavators from 23 to 30 t)
  • Construction: Integrated oil feed with protected line routing in the locking area; depending on the version, with Double-Lock concept according to EN 474:2022 (as per manufacturer specifications)

System Differentiation: Application profile of hydraulic HS tilt couplers

Hydraulic tilt couplers with an HS mount are designed for applications where tool changes occur several times a day. Thanks to the integrated oil feed, the lines for the hydraulic locking are routed protected inside the unit. This reduces the risk of damage to exposed lines in the working area.

Typical Operating Conditions:

  • Frequent tool changes in daily construction site operations
  • Complex work cycles with changing attachments (e.g., digging bucket, grab, hammer)
  • Operating conditions with a high demand for efficient workflows

Hydraulic Locking vs. Mechanical Locking

Choosing an HS system directly impacts the installation:
✔ HS systems reduce manual changing processes to a minimum.
❗ HS systems require a technically suitable hydraulic setup on the carrier machine.
❗ Selection and retrofitting are technically more demanding than with mechanical MS systems.

→ Longer work cycles without frequent tool changes?
For simple manual tool changes, we recommend our MS tilt quick couplers with mechanical locking.

Size Matrix: Machine Class, Mount Size, and Torque

The selection of a tilt coupler is based on the combination of machine class, existing mounting geometry, and the technical approvals of the respective model. Machine weight alone is not a sufficient selection criterion.

  • Size 01 (HS01): Typically for 0.8–3 t (Torque: approx. 900 Nm)
  • Size 03 (HS03): Typically for 2–8 t (Torque: approx. 900–3,200 Nm)
  • Size 08 (HS08): Typically for 5–15 t (Torque: approx. 3,200–7,000 Nm)
  • Size 10 (HS10): Typically for 8–23 t, depending on model and mount
  • Size 21 & 25 (HS21 / HS25): Typically for 15–30 t, depending on system configuration

Workshop Hint: Hydraulic Control and Locking

For HS systems, the requirements for auxiliary control circuits, pressure supply, and line routing must strictly be checked before retrofitting. The required values for pressure, oil flow, and the exact number of necessary auxiliary control circuits are model-dependent and can be found in the technical data of the respective product.

Matching Attachments and Conversion Components

For the use of hydraulic HS tilt couplers and the conversion of existing attachments, LIS® provides the appropriate components:

Checkpoints before selection and retrofitting

Before selecting a hydraulic tilt coupler, the following points must be checked:

  • Mounting Geometry: Does the HS mount (e.g., HS08) exactly match the existing attachments?
  • Machine Class: Is the tilt coupler approved for the operating weight and operating conditions?
  • Hydraulics: Are the required auxiliary control circuits and the appropriate hydraulic control for the rotary drive and the locking mechanism available?
