Cutting Edges, Blades and Wear Profiles for Construction Equipment

Cutting edges, blades and wear profiles form working edges and protect high-wear areas on excavator buckets, wheel loader buckets, dozer blades and other attachments. The first selection criterion is the task at the component: weld on a cutting edge, replace a bolt-on blade or reinforce surfaces and transition areas against wear.

  • Cutting edges: cutting edge steel, weld-on edges, bolt-on cutting edges, dozer blades and grader blades
  • Wear protection: wear strips, V-profile wear bars and studded wear plate / armored bars for surfaces, edges and transition areas
  • Selection: mounting method, dimensions, geometry, bolt pattern, installation position and reference number where applicable

Select cutting edges and wear profiles by function

The first step is to determine which area needs to be renewed or protected. A worn cutting edge, a heavily loaded bucket floor and an abraded side transition require different products. The mounting method is also decisive: welded, bolted or applied as additional wear protection.

Weld-on cutting edges made from cutting edge steel

Cutting edge steel and weld-on edges are used when a cutting edge must be renewed, a base edge rebuilt or an attachment repaired. Width, thickness, length, bevel geometry and installation direction must match the existing structure.

Standard versions are available in defined cross-sections and lengths. Where the profile is suitable but a different length is required, select the corresponding cut-to-size option within this product group.

Bolt-on cutting edges

Bolt-on cutting edges are secured to a suitably designed base edge or mounting system using plow bolts and nuts. Provided that the mounting system is technically sound, a worn blade can be replaced without welding. Dimensions, the complete bolt pattern, plow bolt size and mounting geometry must match.

Standard profiles with 6-inch hole spacing are available under 6 Inch Bolt-On Cutting Edges. Versions for lengths that differ from the standard range are listed under 6 Inch Bolt-On Cutting Edges – Cut to Size.

Reference-based cutting edges

Manufacturer-specific cutting edges are generally identified by reference number, component type, dimensions, bolt pattern and installation position. The machine model provides initial guidance. The installed component and reliable technical documentation remain the decisive basis for identification.

Grader blades and dozer cutting edges

Depending on their design, grader blades and dozer cutting edges form bolted working edges on motor grader moldboards and dozer blades. Identification is based on the reference number, length, width, thickness, blade geometry, bolt pattern and installation position. Straight, curved and multi-piece versions are not automatically interchangeable, even where their dimensions appear similar.

Wear profiles for surfaces, edges and transition areas

Wear strips and flat steel are welded onto high-wear surfaces, undersides and repair areas. Their primary function is to protect surface contact and wear zones rather than form the front working edge.

V-profile wear bars are used on edges, transition areas and locally exposed sections. Studded wear plate / armored bars are intended for additional local wear zones. Selection depends on the profile geometry, material thickness, installation position and existing structure.

Standard versions and cut-to-size products

A standard version is suitable when its cross-section and length match the existing structure. Cutting a profile to length changes its length, not its technical suitability. Profile geometry, mounting method, material and connection geometry must still be checked.

Technical specifications apply to the individual product

Material, hardness, heat treatment, dimensions, bevel geometry, bolt pattern and machine assignment differ between products. The specifications stated for the individual product are authoritative. Values from a visually similar blade or profile must not be transferred to another version.

Matching bolts and nuts

For bolted cutting edges, the plow bolt size and head design must match the bolt hole. The required bolt length depends on the total grip length of the connection. The nut must also be suitable for the specified bolt design.
