CAT K-System Zahnspitze Zahnkappe

Excavator Teeth, Loader Tooth and Retainer Suitable for CAT® K-Series K90

Three excavator teeth, one loader tooth with a Heavy Penetration profile and the Drive-through retainer 220-9090 are relevant for the CAT® K-Series K90 tooth system. For correct technical selection, the product type, reference number, tooth profile, existing adapter interface and retainer seat must be checked together.

  • Excavator teeth: Spike, Double Spike and General Duty
  • Loader tooth: Heavy Penetration
  • Retainer: Drive-through retainer 220-9090

Identifying the CAT® K90 System and Retainer

The CAT® K-Series K90 tooth system uses a twist-on design and the Drive-through retention principle. The tooth is twisted onto the existing adapter interface. The vertically inserted Drive-through retainer 220-9090 secures the tooth to the adapter interface.

K90 belongs to the Drive-through version and does not use the Hammerless retention principle assigned to the K110 size.

The existing adapter interface must match the K90 system size. Machines may be equipped with different buckets, loader buckets and tooth systems. The manufacturer and machine model alone are therefore not sufficient for reliable component identification.

The decisive factors are the reference number on the existing tooth, the interface geometry, product type, tooth profile and design of the retainer seat. Adapters are not included as separate products in this category.

K90 Tooth Profiles and Reference Numbers

Three excavator teeth and one loader tooth are confirmed for CAT® K90. The correct technical assignment is determined by the product type, profile designation and reference number.

Product type Profile LIS® profile designation Reference numbers
Excavator tooth Spike Long sharp tooth tip 220-9097
475-5483
Excavator tooth Double Spike V-shaped tooth tip or double-point profile 309-1098
220-9098
475-5491
Excavator tooth General Duty Long tooth tip 220-9099
475-5484
Loader tooth Heavy Penetration Sharp HD tooth tip 222-1091
475-5486

Distinguishing Excavator Teeth from the Loader Tooth

Spike, Double Spike and General Duty are assigned to excavator teeth in the K90 range. The K90 Heavy Penetration version is a loader tooth. The profile designation alone does not determine the product type across different sizes or tooth systems.

A matching system size or similar external tooth shape is not sufficient to treat excavator and loader versions as technically equivalent. The confirmed reference number and existing adapter interface remain decisive.

Drive-through Retainer 220-9090

The Drive-through retainer 220-9090, also 2209090, is assigned to all four K90 teeth currently listed. The same retainer reference is also used for K80 and K100. The system size therefore cannot be identified from the retainer alone.

When replacing a tooth, inspect the retainer, retainer seat and contact surfaces of the existing adapter interface for wear, deformation and damage. Where the interface is damaged or cannot be clearly identified, the technical assignment should be clarified before fitting the replacement component.

Check Before Ordering

  • Reference number on the existing tooth
  • System size and geometry of the adapter interface
  • Product type such as excavator tooth or loader tooth
  • Spike, Double Spike, General Duty or Heavy Penetration profile
  • Drive-through retainer 220-9090
  • Condition of the retainer seat and contact surfaces
  • Dimensions of the existing tooth where no reference number is visible

A clearly confirmed reference number on the existing tooth is the primary basis for selection. Retainer 220-9090 alone does not confirm K90 because it is also used for K80 and K100. Where no tooth reference is available, compare the product type, tooth shape, dimensions, adapter interface and retainer with the existing K90 system.

Machine, excavator bucket and loader bucket details can support this check but do not replace component identification.

Lifetime Breakage Warranty for LIS® K90 Teeth

The lifetime breakage warranty applies to the LIS® excavator and loader teeth shown in this category in accordance with the LIS® warranty terms. It applies to material and workmanship defects. Normal wear caused by the respective operating conditions is excluded.

Other CAT® K-Series Sizes

The general size and retention logic is summarised under CAT® K-Series tooth system. The adjacent sizes are CAT® K80 and CAT® K100. Other tooth systems and wear parts are listed under Tooth and Teeth Systems.
